Nicknamed Prince of Calcutta and affectionately called Dada by his team-mates,he is an aggressive player. He made his ODI debut in 1992, but his talents did not truly receive the recognition they deserved until India's 1996 tour of England when he scored consecutive centuries both in his debut Test and the next match (2nd & 3rd Tests of the series).Dravid once commented, "On the off-side, first there is God, then there is Ganguly”. He scored 183 against Sri Lanka at Taunton in the 1999 Cricket World Cup, the highest by an Indian in World Cup cricket and 239 against pak is the highest score in tests.He became the Indian captain in 2000 and led them in a record 49 Test Matches, winning 21 of those, including 12 of them outside India..Ganguly is the 4th player to cross 11,000 ODI runs and 3rd player to cross 10,000 ODI runs and so far the fastest in ODI history, after Sachin.He also reached 9000 ODI runs milestones in the fewest number of matches.
